Life was much simpler back then. Notice the 3 and 4-digit telephone numbers on this mailer. Just this week (11/15/09), the state of Connecticut has required that even local calls must include the area code. That's 10 digits just to dial your next-door neighbor! 
Thank you for posting this, I was looking in the wrong part of woods on Sunday and now I see where this was...very interesting - and looks like it was alot of fun to go there in the 30's! We need less stores and more fun things like this to do in Norwalk (and vicinity) today!
